Matthew Sercely
Attorney
Matthew grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before moving to Richardson, Texas for high school. He attended the University of Dallas, where he majored in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. Â
Matthew’s first experience with attorneys was as a client when he was severely injured in a boating accident. Matthew broke both his legs, his collarbone, and his jaw, and spent 6 weeks in the hospital, including his 18th birthday. After experiencing the legal system as a client, Matthew wanted to help other injury victims.Â
Consequently, Matthew attended Ave Maria School of Law in Michigan. Matthew also attended the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer College for their full training program, which helped take his litigation and trial skills to the next level.Â
Matthew has worked as a personal injury lawyer for his entire legal career. In January of 2020, Matthew was recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in Personal Injury Trial Law – a recognition awarded to fewer than 3,000 practicing attorneys in the United States. In April 2022, Matthew was recognized by The National Trial Lawyers as one of the Top 100 plaintiffs’ lawyers in Texas.
Since joining Thompson Law’s litigation department, Matthew has focused on representing injured parties in lawsuits involving personal injury claims, general negligence, premises liability, and wrongful death claims.Â
In his free time, Matthew spends time playing with his three children, swimming, weightlifting, and reading.
